VETASED is recommended for short-term anesthesia, for clinical examinations in stubborn animals, and for Röentgen diagnosis. For the potentiation of analgesia and narcosis in combined anesthesia, it is used in surgeries (ovariectomy, castration, cesarean section, eye or ear surgery, tooth extraction), the prevention of restraint, and transport stress.

Avoid administering the product to animals with glaucoma, decompensated heart diseases, serious yeanling ney or liver failure, and high blood pressure.
Do not administer it in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients.

Composition:
1 ml of solution for injection contains:
Active substance:
Ketamine (as hydrochloride)………………………………100 mg
Excipients:
Benzalkonium hydrochloride………………………………0.11 mg
Water for injections.

Contraindication:

Avoid administering the product to animals with glaucoma, decompensated heart diseases, serious yeanlingney or liver failure and high blood pressure.
Do not administer it in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients.

How to use:

VETASED is administered intramuscularly or intravenously depending on the species and body weight.

After injection, the effect sets in quickly, within 30–60 seconds (i.v. administration) or 3–5 minutes (after i.m. administration).
The duration of anesthesia is approximately 15-30 minutes, with full awakening within 30-60 minutes. The prolongation of the anesthesia is done by repeating the dose.
For the prevention of hypersalivation, premedication with atropine is recommended. For horses, dogs, and cats premedication is mandatory.
Also, in horses, dogs, and cats, premedication is done with xylazine because it reduces the adverse effects of ketamine, which consists of an excited state. After 10 minutes of xylazine administration, ketamine may be injected. Premedication can also be done with SEDAM (acepromazine) in appropriate doses.

The recommended doses for combined anesthesia are the following:
Horses:
- 0.5 mg of xylazine/kg body weight intramuscularly
- 0.004 - 0.01 mg of atropine/kg body weight intramuscularly
Dogs:
- 1 - 2 mg of xylazine/kg body weight intramuscularly or subcutaneously
- 0.05 - 0.1 mg of atropine/kg body weight intramuscularly
Cats:
- 0.5 mg of xylazine/kg body weight subcutaneously
- 0.1 mg of atropine/kg body weight intramuscularly
